BEM-VINDO A NOVA PETRÓPOLIS

Localizada na Serra Gaúcha, a cidade de Nova Petrópolis recebeu esse nome em homenagem a  D. Pedro II (Nova Petrópolis = Nova Cidade de Pedro), mas também analogia à "Real cidade de Petrópolis" do Rio de Janeiro, local de férias da Família Imperial da Corte.
 
Porém, ao chegar à cidade o que menos encontramos são referencias portuguesas. A arquitetura em estilo enxaimel  denuncia a colonização e a cultura alemãs.

WELCOME TO NOVA PETRÓPOLIS

 
Located in the Serra Gaúcha region, the city of Nova Petrópolis was named in honor of D. Pedro II (Nova Petrópolis = New City of Pedro), but also analogy to the "Real city of Petrópolis" of Rio de Janeiro, Imperial Court.
 
However, when arriving in the city the least we find are Portuguese references. The half-timbered architecture denounces German colonization and culture.
