All of the caches start at the church where you need to find the answers to a couple of questions to allow you to find the final cache position, and none are intended to be particularly difficult (I would prefer you to find the caches) or are more than 1/2 a kilometre from the church. Co-ords are for the church and there is parking in front of the church gate where there is room for several cars.
This is the thirtieth in the series and starts at Llansoy Church which is dedicated to St.Tysoi and has been a place of Christian worship for over a thousand years. The name derives from Llan (church) and the dedication of Tissoi and the building is currently of the Perpendicular style but is situated on the site of a much older building. The roof is a barrel-style roof dating from the 15th century, most of what we see ranges from medieval times through to the modern day, but of note is the glorious stained glass window of 1988 commemorating the Rev. William Jones.
To find the whereabouts of the final cache location look for the answers to the questions below and replace the letters for the appropriate numbers in the co-ords at the bottom. So here we go:
Before you enter the throigh the gate take a look at the dedication on it to Lional Williams - his year of birth was 1A26.
As you approach the church you will see a little venting hole low down close to the corner (not the tower corner). It is situated below and to the left of the benchmark cut and bolt. How many 'points' in the shape? B
Head round to the right and the tower end. You will see a door, but how many stone arches above it? (Built into the wall, not the protruding flat stones). C
Continue around the path to the other side of the tower - how many blocked windows at your eyeline? D
Continue past the porch and you will see the stained glass window with a bird in the low centre (best viewed from inside if the door is open). How many pieces of glass make up the bird? E
Look up to the top of the tower - how many raised castellations? F
So replace your answers in this co-ord and off you go to get the cache! Final position N 51° 4(E-C).(A-D-F)EF W 002° 48.E(B+D)D
Best not do this after nightfall as there is a house nearby, but you are looking for a 35mm container (not in the wall). Please cover well after finding.
