Slievemeel is situated midway along a ridge of upland that starts with Slievemeen above Carlingford Lough to the south, and which leads eventually to Shanlieve and Eagle Mountain to the north. It is a part of the 400 metre group of hills known as Rostrevor Mountains, and the lower slopes of these hills are extensively forested. Slievemeel has some nice views of the higher mountains to the north, as well as such small hills as Tievedockeragh, Gruggandoo and Crenville. There some good views along Carlingford Lough and over some of the coastal villages such as Rostrevor.

When I placed this cache, I parked at Yellow Water Car Park N 54° 08.105 W 006° 09.103 (waypoint added) and made my way up and out from there. As a handy reference point, it's less than 500 metres to the summit of Slievemeel from Bike or Hike 8 #Leaving the Fallows https://coord.info/GC4BR5N at N 54 07.053 W 006 09.196 (waypoint added). The final stretch from there involves an initial steep climb of which becomes more gentle after 150 metres or so. For the final stretch, there are a few sheep tracks to follow but for the most part, you'll be making your own route to the summit by following the arrow on your GPSr.
There is a small cairn (pictured below) a short distance away from GZ marking the summit of Slievemeel at N 54 07.224 W 006 08.827.

The cache is a green watertight snaplock box (L 12.5cm / W 7.5cm / H 3.5cm) containing a logbook held within a further watertight micro sized container, a few pencils and some child/family friendly swaps. Please be sure after recording your find to replace the container exactly as you found it to help keep it safe from muggles.
After walking all the way up here, I want you to find this cache! Thus, a detailed hint and spoiler photo is provided, should you require same.
As with all caches in mountain areas, the weather can change suddenly so please ensure that you are dressed properly and prepared for all conditions. The Met Office Mountain Safety Page can be found at http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/guide/weather/mountain-video
Have fun, keep safe and enjoy the hike!
