Georgie Ah Ling 1884 - 1987 or as we all called him Geogie the Chinaman ran his market garden here for many years , as a small child at the end of the 50,s on the way to school would up behind his horse and cart and hop in the feed holder at the back, he would always offer us a piece of fruit, before the end od 1959 he came to our house wanting to buy a covered wagonfrom my Dad but i think he had already sold it to somebody.
I can remember in the 70,s being sent to his property to fix his ancient pump not understanding a word he spoke when he pointed at the dam saying ishy ishy ishy i just shrugged, he went back to his house [shack ] and moments later came out naked and went into the dam, his pump line was blocked with small fish, he then offered us warm beer while he smoked his long hand made cherry wood pipe.
I think most of his hard earnt money went to his children in USA , one was a doctor
