Geocache Description:

Congratulations to OddMushroom on 1000 finds! This gold 1k can is placed as he has accomplished this geocaching milestone. For everyone already at 1000+ or still working their way to it, we invite you to come celebrate with OddMushroom by finding his gold can. A slight puzzle must be solved first...

There were some cachers had a friend and Fun-gi was his name-oh!

     F-U-N-G-I
     F-U-N-G-I
And Fun-guy was his name-oh!

Since this cache is placed in honor of OddMushroom’s 1000 cache find, and since he loves puzzles, we figured this would be a great time to create a puzzle just for him – one that he would be guaranteed to solve and be the FTF! Congratulations to Mr. Fun-guy himself, OddMushroom!

There is no cache at the above coordinates. You will need to solve the puzzle below for the coords. It will be easier to solve the puzzle if you are singing the FUNGI (or the BINGO) song while working on the puzzle.

One of our fondest, continuing memories of OddMushroom is his fondness for placing “just one more piece” of geocover on a cache when he re-hides it after signing the log. So we are asking all finders to replace the cache as found and then add “just one more piece” of geocover before leaving. Let’s see how big of a pile we can accumulate! (Have fun with it, but in all seriousness, make sure the cache is still accessible to the next cacher without too much difficulty...)

About GZ:

This location was chosen between Hollidaysburg and Huntingdon, two locations currently significant to OddMushroom. SGL 118 provides a nice spot for new caches, of which OddMushroom has intentions to add more later in 2017. One of his favorite hides as CO, First Aid (GC6MNG8), is also located in this SGL. The hike to GZ is slightly reminiscent of The Legend of "Steal" Mountain and maybe even less slightly to Operation Eagle's Nest, two higher terrain caches. We are listing this terrain at 3.5 (based on geocaching.com terrain guidelines and consensus from the hiding crew), but would entertain any suggestions if it should be bumped to 4.0

Parking is closest at SGL 118 parking along the road over the mountain between Williamsburg and Huntingdon, but this requires crossing that same road heading toward GZ, so use care when crossing if parking here. It is not a busy road, but there will be occasional traffic depending on the time of day. Same-side parking is available farther down the road on the Williamsburg side (less spacious than the larger, closer parking), but the walk to GZ will be longer from this parking area. There is no established path from either parking area, but the pole line provides a path from the second parking area to a point where going up via the woods becomes necessary. Note that the pole line path may become overgrown at certain times of the year. Once across the road from the closer parking, the best way to climb to GZ is to follow your GPS up. The walk should not be too difficult in terms of natural obstacles, but the ground may be uneven, rocky, and steep in places. You may also encounter thorny or brushy patches in certain spots and depending on the time of the year. Good supportive hiking boots are strongly suggested.

GZ Hint: When you get to GZ, look for the Odd Tree, and the cache will be below and to the right (if looking at tree from slope side) under OddMushroom-appropriate geocover (and depending on previous hiders, possibly lots of it).

You may use the geo-checker to be sure that your answer will lead you to the correct location.

Congratulations to OddMushroom for 1000 finds and still going strong! The honorary FTF goes to him for this geocaching milestone and for getting to his gold can today, 1/28/2017.

Congratulations to the hiking team of Profbrad and 74vwBusFamily for getting the "next-to-find" after the cache published, and congrats to TheGeoSleuth for being the "next-to-find" after them!

This cache is located in state game lands, so PLEASE observe all state game land rules and wear orange during hunting seasons. During the primary hunting season, finding this cache is recommended on Sunday only.

Note the 'Dangerous Animals' attribute. Due to the rocky nature of the terrain, snakes and other animals may be encountered. For your safety, always exercise alertness and caution while hiking.

Thanks to all in our hiding crew for a great morning hike on 12/27/16: ted28285, r.e.s.t.seekers, DJ-Pup, RJ-Pup, and the COs green nikki, jax-man, and mrGreen317
