Welcome to Orenco Woods Nature Park! This place has been a part of Hillsboro history for over a century. As you explore the park you’ll see relics from its past, great things in the present (including some hidden letterboxes) and hints of an even more amazing future.
Pass the group of young trees north of the trail. Originally, this area was forest. Much of it was removed for agricultural or other human uses. Imagine these young trees as a new forest, providing habitat for the many animals that call Orenco home. Turn keft at the ’T’ and look left of the bridge. Take a step down and reach under the bridge to find the letterbox. We call this bridge ‘Coyote Bridge’. A coyote nicknamed Slim by one of the park workers was using this bridge long before the park opened to the public.
