Welcome to Orenco Woods Nature Park! This place has been a part of Hillsboro history for over a century. As you explore the park you’ll see relics from its past, great things in the present (including some hidden letterboxes) and hints of an even more amazing future.
Travel south from the small bridge over Rock Creek and look for the north corner post of the chain-link fenced bioswale. The letterbox is here. The fence surrounds an area that serves as a bioswale. A bioswale is an area that collects storm water runoff from hard surfaces like roads and lets it seep naturally into the soil filtering it. They are designed to manage a runoff from a large impervious area, such as a parking lot or roadway. Bioswales are vegetated with plants that can withstand both heavy watering and drought.
