Look out Goulburn!
Here we come!!!
Geocaching NSW would like to extend an invitation to all geocachers to travel to Goulburn located in the beautiful Southern Tablelands area for our 2017 Regional Invasion during the weekend of the 18th/19th February.
Goulburn is around a two hour drive from Sydney and an hour from Canberra. It is well within the reach of many geocachers.
There are lots of fabulous geocaches to be found in this region so why not team up with a few friends and enjoy a fantastic weekend of geocaching fun.
On the Sunday, we will enjoy a Meet’n’Greet event at the Goulburn Historic Waterworks. Built between 1883 and 1885, the steam operated pumping facility provided Goulburn’s first reticulated water supply. The pumphouse still contains the original Appleby Bros. Beam Engine pump and Galloway Boilers. There are some picnic shelters and a free electric BBQ available. There’s a children’s playground as well as toilet facilities nearby.
Event details are as follows:
Date: Sunday, 19th February, 2017
Venue: Goulburn Historic Waterworks – Entry off Fitzroy St, Goulburn
Cost: There is no cost to enter the grounds.
Time: 10:30am to 1:30pm. (Gates open at 10:00am.)
What to bring: Please BYO all personal food and drink requirements. Folding chairs and/or a picnic rug is always a good idea.
What's On: If you are interested, the museum will be open and it is a "steaming" day. Therefore, many of the engines will be operating. We believe a donation is asked to enter the museum. The Pumphouse Cafe will also be open.
Group Photograph: The official Invasion Event Group Photograph will be taken at 12:00 midday so hope you can be there for that.
There is plenty of accommodation around Goulburn. An internet search will come up with a number of options for you to choose from.
Events are a great way to meet new people and make new friends with a common interest, pick up the latest information on equipment, techniques and software and share stories about the latest caching adventure. You may even pick up a hint or two on those annoying DNFs.
