Geocache Description:

A nice big sturdy looking tree that seemed to be just begging to be climbed. Who was I to argue?

At a couple of recent events, it has been observed that more and more folks in the local caching community have acquired the skills and equipment required to find caches up in the treetops. I thus felt it was my duty to give these folks more reasons to get the gear out and use it!

This one might test your throwing arm... make sure you have enough rope!

Nearest drinking water and toilets are at the listed parking coordinates. It's a bit of a hike, so make use of the facilities before you set out.

WARNING!

Danger of Falling

Tree Climbing is dangerous and hazardous by its very nature. It is your sole responsibility to get proper instruction and to act safely and with caution while using the right equipment. Watching YouTube videos and/or just giving it a try does not replace the competent instruction and experience in all phases of climbing. Like all tree climbs, be safe out there and don't try anything stupid.

  • Seriously. If you have no idea what kind of equipment is involved, put this cache on the ignore list.

  • The cache sits approximately 16 metres above the ground and it shouldn't be too difficult to make out from below.

  • This cache has been placed at a location which was deemed to be safe to reach. This might not have been a valid assessment or circumstances may have changed since placement. Various events or variables can have an effect on the structural integrity of a tree. Storms, lightning strikes, natural ageing, diseases, drought or bushfires are just a few of them. You have to make your own assessment in order to stay alive.

  • In order claim a find of this cache in compliance with the guidelines, you have to be at the cache location - which is up in the tree. Please don't claim a find unless you have actually made it up and at least touched the container (and have your name in the log.)

  • It's not a requirement to post a picture of yourself up there, but it would be fun to see it anyway. Spoiler photos are welcome on this one.

  • This cache qualifies for the 200 Metre Vertical Ascent Rope Challenge

You are personally responsible for using the proper techniques, good judgment, your own actions and decisions as well as getting the proper equipment. Failure to follow these warnings can result in severe injury or death. Heed the warnings -- your life depends on it.
