Hetényegyháza közigazgatásilag Kecskeméthez tartozó, nagyjából 9000 fős egykori község. Történelmi múltja az Árpád-korig nyúlik vissza, majd a pusztító tatárjárás után a XV. század közepén található róla újra hivatalos írásos nyom. A századfordulón népessége tervezett betelepítés nyomán megnövekedett, szőlészeti központtá vált a térségben. 1952 és 1981 között községi státuszt kapott, majd finanszírozási szempontból újból egyesült a szomszédos Kecskeméttel. Csendes, barátságos egyutcás település rengeteg kertes házzal és telekkel, területén található az Univer fűszer- és konzervipari vállalat gyára.
Hetényegyháza is a regional district of Kecskemét, formerly a village in the mainly agrarian Bács-Kiskun county of Hungary. With a current population of 9000, the area was already settled as early as the 11th-12th centuries; after the devastation caused by invading Tartars, it was resettled in the middle of the 15th century. At the beginning of the 20th century, its population was boosted largely by planned relocation of some 50 families - most of the region's vineyards were wiped out by a virus, but the grapes lodged in the sandy dunes here managed to survive. Between 1952 and 1981, it was autonomous, but decided to reunite with neighboring city and county state Kecskemét for financial and administrative reasons. A quiet and friendly place with houses situated around well-tended gardens and fields sprawled away from its main street, Hetényegyháza is also home to the Univer factory, a company that produces some famous Hungarian spices, canned goods and vegetable-fruit products.
