I have hidden this cache in the same location as the very first geocache that I found. I first learned about geocaching in July 2012 while on a mission trip in the Czech Republic. One of the young boys in our Vacation Bible School group told me about this fun activity that he participates in with his dad. It wasn't until October of that year that I finally got around to trying it myself.
I downloaded the app, set up an account, and looked to see what caches were around me. I was surprised to see that there was a cache hidden near a restaurant that my family frequented, and decided to try to find it. I was such a newbie, that it took me three visits to locate the cache, but once I had, I was hooked! It wasn't until much later that I realized that part of the title of that cache "E.G.G.S."* was a huge clue to the location of the cache.
That cache went missing in 2016 and was eventually archived. I decided I needed to place a new cache here to mark the beginiing of my caching career. I am keeping it simple for any other fledgling cachers that might make this their first find.
Sadly, the Sit-n-Bull Restaurant that this cache was named for was a victim of the COVID shut down. It reopened a few months later under new management, but never flourished. A short time after the new restaurant closed, a fire destroyed this whole shopping strip which also included a discount grocery, hair salon, and a "pallet" store. This building had been part of the history of Gray for many years, and its loss was mourned by many.
Update 06/29/22: Replaced this cache with a magnetic nano
Update 10/24/2023: A new business has opened here bringing life back to this busy corner. The property owners have given permission for the cache to remain here.
