Enjoy the walk up through Orielton Woods, starting from the bottom by the road (you can walk from Barmouth along a narrow pavement or there is a layby for parking) or from the top from the Panorama Road. There are lots of birds and plants to observe along the way so please take your time and take in this magical atmosphere!
At the bottom you will see the old Aberamffra lime kiln, which would have been used to burn limestone in order to provide lime for agricultural and construction uses. These kilns were constructed along the Welsh coast before railways and highways, so that limestone could be delivered quickly off ships in the nearby harbour. You should also see the interesting 'Merioneth Paradoxides' by artist Jim Sadler just above the kiln which pinpoints the start of the walk up through the woods. There are various information panels throughout the site providing information about the history and ecology of the area.
