This cache is a magnietic nano cache and dash. There are lovely views of the castle from the gz. Althought there is parking, it is close to a very busy main road and children and dogs should be closely supervised.
There are many beautiful and interesting features in West Waterford. One such feature is this (locally) famous Ice House. The Ice Houses were used to store salmon caught in local river Blackwater prior to export. The ice itself was harvested from the flood plains of the river Blackwater below the castle. The circular structures are built into the hillside on the R666 Lismore-Fermoy road close to Lismore Castle (see picture). They have both separate access and a common porch entrance where connecting air-tight doors lead to the ice chambers. The ice-houses were built by Edmund Foley circa 1880. More information is available on the tourist information board. This is a a great spot to park and a quick walk to the 'Lismore Castle Cache'. Lismore Ice House
