Geocache Description:

Great Celebrity Purge of 2016

The year 2016 will be forever remembered in infamy to many people, as it claimed the lives of many celebrities. And while every year claims its share of celebrities, 2016 seemed especially cruel and callous, as one after another after another was taken from us.

This series of geocaches tries to honor those who were taken during the year by placing caches in memoriam and on the anniversary of their passing.

Robert Stigwood

Robert Colin Stigwood (16 April 1934 – 4 January 2016) was an Austrailian-born British-resident music entrepreneur, film producer, and impresario, best known for managing the bands Cream and the Bee Gees, for theatrical productions like Hair and Jesus Christ Superstar, and for film productions including the hugely successful Grease and Saturday Night Fever, which became the de-facto soundtrack for the late 1970s.

He died at home in London at the age of 81, of an apparent heart attack.

In honor to his contribution to musical theatrical productions, this cache is located near the historical Paramount Theatre in Casa Grande's downtown area.
