To find this cache you'll need to visit the Shenley Lodge which was once known as 'Energy World' it was a demonstration project of 51 low-energy houses. The project culminated in a public exhibition in August and October 1986, this sun dial would have be one of the first things that the visitors saw. The ticket booths were once located in the large diamond shaped open area. The sun dial is really a shadow of its former self, there is a plaque at the bottom which explains how it once looked. There were 12 lights located around the edge of the main raise area which displayed the hour once the sun went down. The electronics which controlled the lights was removed many years ago, and the light fittings filled in. Different colour bricks were used so these still act as markers.
If you've got time why not go and visit our other two caches on the estate, make sure you walk between each one to appreciate the unusual housing.
