This cache is dedicated to the men and women of the Town of Tusten Highway Department. They are the hard-working team that keeps our town roads free from potholes, and prevent Mother Nature from encroaching on the roadways by keeping brush cut, ditches cleaned, and trees trimmed.
And, more importantly, these are the folks that keep our roads clear of snow during our frequent Sullivan County snowstorms, and spread salt and sand during ice storms. During prolonged snow storms crew members may be away from their homes and families for extended periods of time, and occasionally miss part or all of a holiday (yes, even Christmas Eve!) with their loved ones.
The “Steel Angel” upon which this cache is hidden at one time played an important part in keeping our highways free of snow. Now, in its retirement, it stands guard over the Tusten Town Barn. Cache placed by permission.
