La chiesa e le mura di S. Michele hanno origine dopo la conversione dei Longobardi al Cristianesimo, avvenuta nel VII secolo. I Longobardi erano devoti a S. Michele, l'angelo guerriero, perciò quando a Ome venne eretto un avamposto militare, la chiesa del luogo fu dedicata a questo santo. Dal colle di S. Michele era possibile vigilare sulle viabilità nella valle di Ome che dalla Franciacorta raggiunge Polaveno e la Val Trompia, avendo inoltre un buon punto di vista sul Monte Delma, il Mont'Orfano e il Monte Alto. Nei secoli, grazie al commercio fiorente con la Val Trompia, il piccolo abitato crebbe e fu necessario costruire la chiesetta attuale (XV secolo). I resti dell'antica chiesa longobarda (orientata in direzione Est-Ovest) sono ancora visibili nei muri e nella pavimentazione dell'edificio quattrocentesco.
La cache si trova nei pressi della torre medioevale situata nella parte nord dell'insediamento.

The church and the walls of S. Michele takes origin after the conversion of the Lombards to Christianity in VII century. Lombards were devoted to St. Michael, the warrior angel, so when a military outpost was built in Ome, the local church was dedicated to him. From S. Michele hill it was possible to monitor Ome valley , which reaches Val Trompia from Franciacorta, and the mounts Delma, Orfano and Alto. In centuries, due to the trade with Val Trompia, the small village grew and it was necessary to build a bigger church (XV century). Parts of the ancient Lombard church (oriented from east to west) are still visible in the walls and the floor of the current building.
The cache is near the medieval tower which is in the northern part of the site.
