Great Celebrity Purge of 2016

The year 2016 will be forever remembered in infamy to many people, as it claimed the lives of many celebrities. And while every year claims its share of celebrities, 2016 seemed especially cruel and callous, as one after another after another was taken from us.

This series of geocaches tries to honor those who were taken during the year by placing caches in memoriam and on the anniversary of their passing.

Angus Scrimm

Angus Scrimm (born Lawrence Rory Guy; 19 August 1926 - 9 January 2016) was an American actor and author, best known for playing the Tall Man in the 1979 horror film Phantasm and its sequels. His other credits included the 2008 film I Sell the Dead, the TV show Alias — on which he had a recurring role — and the spooky audio play series Tales From Beyond the Pale.

He died in a Tarzana hospital in Los Angeles at the age of 89, of natural causes.

In honor of his bellweather contributions to the horror genre in the 1970s, this cache is placed near a local funeral home, in a manner consistent with an iconic element from the Phantasm series.
