My dad was born in 1957. When he moved to West Branch in the 9th grade, this site was just as abandoned. Friends of his Dad told him that it was a one room schoolhouse back when the sites in old Damon were inhabited.
I walk with my dog's to this site all the time. It's a good spot to take a metal detector. It is on state land surrounded by dense red pines that were planted maybe 25 years back. Easy for an able bodied person to walk to, but dense enough forest that the snow doesn't get too deep in the winter.
The cache is a standard pill bottle. Bring your own pen. Contains a rubber band keychain for the FTF.
