Geocache Description:

25th March 2002 was the date the first Ye Ole Survey Monument was placed at Failand Surface Block on the outskirts of Bristol.

We'd like to invite you to an event at the trig point at the top of Auchineden Hill (aka The Whangie) to celebrate 15 years of YOSM and with over 700+ different locations around the UK it can be found by everyone.

Ye Ole Survey Monuments (YOSM) (GC45CC) is a travelling geocache that is owned by outforthehunt. The cache moves around the country and you could be looking for a specific survey monument, pillar, surface block, rivet or bolt. Unlike conventional geocaches, with this cache you need to record the D/T rating and make a note of them on your log. You can also add pictures and any other details you want.

We would like to celebrate this birthday by hosting this event there to celebrate the YOSM with cake and a brew, socialise with other cachers, hopefully introduce some of you to YOSM bagging and explain a bit more about it.

When: Saturday 25th March 2017

What Time: 1200 -1230 hrs

Where: Auchineden Hill trig

We aim to depart the car park at about 1100 hrs, if you fancy joining us on the walk up.  Please aim to be at the trig by 1230 hrs if you want to be in the group photo.

The terrain can be steep and rough underfoot in places. The walk to the trig is about 2 km with a climb of only 160m, the trig sits at 357m but the car park is at 193m.  Good footwear is needed and as with all high areas you should note that the weather & winds can change quickly and you should take appropriate clothing.  When the weather is clear you will see outstanding views of Ben Lomond and the surrounding mountains and perhaps even further.
