Kayaking and Rafting, Kawerau Traditional Cache

This cache takes you to the other side of the Tarawera River opposite a place which can sometimes be very busy, being designed for spectator viewing of kayaking and rafting competitions.   The placement is in an as yet undeveloped area. Many kayaking and rafting events are held here, including national and even international........the World Rafting Championships in 2013.

This is considered particularly fine white water for competitions because the river level scarcely changes as it flows directly from Lake Tarawera, up the valley.

Parking should be done before you cross the bridge...in proper carparks.

Cache container is large enough for a travel bug but please bring your own pen. Please replace as you find it.
