Bob Ross was born in Florida October 29th, 1942. He was known as the host of "The Joy of Painting" which ran on PBS from 1983 to 1994 and is now shown in reruns. He had a soft demeanor that seems in contrast to serving 20 years in the Air Force where he rose in ranks to Master Sargent. Ross typically painted landscapes which were strongly influenced by his years living in Alaska. He loved to contrast between light and dark in his paintings. Now in the internet age, Ross has become known for his laid-back attitude and catchphrases.
