Le Pietre della Stazione - Una miniera per tutti i Geocachers!

La Stazione Centrale di Milano è un ottimo esempio di struttura che accoglie diverse tipologie di materiali interessanti per una Earhcache.
Possiamo infatti trovare, in vari punti della stazione materiali quali Marmo, Travertino e Granito in forme, colori e dimensioni interessanti.
Per scoprire questi materiali, la loro storia e la loro specifica caratteristica dovrete avvicinarvi a queste strutture e trovare qualche particolare.
Tutte le risposte le potete trovare al primo piano nell'area esterna alla partenza dei treni. La mappa vi sarà utile.

Il Travertino
Il travertino è una roccia sedimentaria calcarea di tipo chimico, molto utilizzata in edilizia, in particolare a Roma, fin dal I millennio a.C.

La differenza tra il deposito calcareo di tipo spugnoso e il banco di travertino è data sostanzialmente dalla conformazione geologica del terreno di formazione: il calcare è uno dei depositi più frequenti in natura essendo prodotto dalla precipitazione di carbonato di calcio disciolto nell'acqua. Un ambiente continentale subaereo in cui la soluzione calcarea abbia avuto il tempo di ristagnare e sedimentarsi in un territorio pianeggiante, abbastanza vicina alla superficie da poter attraversare cicli di emersione e sommersione, poco disturbata da acque sorgive o correnti, favorisce la formazione del travertino.
Il colore del travertino dipende dagli ossidi che ha incorporato (cosa che accade abbastanza facilmente, essendo di sua natura una pietra abbastanza porosa).
La colorazione naturale varia dal bianco latte al noce, attraverso varie sfumature dal giallo al rosso. È frequente incontrarvi impronte fossili di animali e piante.
Nella Stazione Centrale di Milano è presente il Travertino di Rapolano collocato nella Galleria di Testa dei binari e nell'atrio delle biglietterie.

Il primo indizio per la risposta alla Earhcache è indicare in quale angolo della Galleria al primo piano (accessibile senza dover avere un biglietto ferroviario) è stata effettuata questa fotografia.
Essendo il travertino composto da molte venature.. per confermare questo particolare dovrete fisicamente verificare quale venatura è stata fotografata in uno dei quattro angoli la presenza ed indicarlo nella risposta A)

La prima risposta è quindi indicare se la foto è stata scattata sulla colonna di travertino 1,2,3 oppure 4.

Si deve rispondere semplicemente indicando A1, A2, A3 o A4

Il Marmo
Il marmo è una roccia metamorfica composta prevalentemente di carbonato di calcio (CaCO3). Il termine marmo deriva dal greco antico μάρμαρον (mármaron) o μάρμαρος (mármaros), con il significato di "pietra splendente", a sua volta derivato dal verbo μαρμαίρω (marmàirō), che significa "splendere, brillare.
Un esempio di applicazione del marmo Perlato di Sicilia. Si tratta proprio dell'imponente calpestio della Stazione Centrale.
Il materiale marmo perlato di Sicilia è resistente all’usura, alle intemperie e alle temperature.
Potete apprezzare un risultato estetico e funzionale eccellente, raffinato e caldo come solo i migliori marmi possono dare in ambienti così grandi e architettonicamente freddi.

Un piccolo aneddoto. Considerati i costi del marmo, alcune parti della Stazione Centrale sono state rivestite di marmo fino ad una certa altezza e successivamente completate con pietre meno nobili.

Il secondo indizio per la risposta alla Earhcache è indicare il colore del marmo originale della foto presentata in bianco e nero scegliendo tra queste tre rappresentazioni B1, B2 oppure B3.
Entrambi i marmi sono presenti nella Stazione ma solo uno di questi è utilizzato per l'area di accesso ai binari dei treni. Questo marmo si trova nella area rossa della mappa ed è accessibile anche dall'esterno senza dover accedere con il biglietto.

Il Granito
Il granito è una delle rocce più abbondanti sulla superficie terrestre; si tratta di una roccia ignea intrusiva felsica, con grana che va da media a grossolana e occasionalmente può presentare megacristalli. Il suo nome deriva dal latino granum (a grani), con chiaro riferimento alla sua struttura olocristallina.
Il granito è classificato nel campo delle rocce sovrassature, ossia con contenuti di quarzo compresi tra il 20 e il 60%. Gli altri minerali fondamentali presenti sono i feldspati (ortoclasio, sanidino e microclino) e il plagioclasio (con composizioni più albitiche) e miche (biotite e in alcuni tipi di granito muscovite). Se il plagioclasio è quasi interamente albite il granito prende il nome di granito sodico, se nella roccia è presente anche pirosseno rombico la roccia prende il nome di granito charnockitico. Un'ulteriore varietà di granito sono i leucograniti, nei quali i minerali mafici sono estremamente ridotti.

Milan's Central Station is a great example of a structure that welcomes a variety of interesting materials for a Earhcache.
We can find, at various points of construction, Marble, Travertine and Granite in interesting shapes, sizes and sizes.
To discover these materials, their story and their specific feature will have to get you closer to these structures and find some useful details.

Travertine
Travertine is a limestone sedimentary rock of the chemical type, which is very used in construction, especially in Rome, since the 1st millennium BC.

Atrium The difference between the spongy calcareous deposit and the travertine bench is basically due to the geological conformation of the formation medium: limestone is one of the most frequent deposits in nature being produced by the precipitation of calcium carbonate dissolved in water. A subalterian continental environment in which the limestone solution has had time to stagnate and settle in a flat area close enough to the surface to be able to cross over emerging and submerged cycles, untouched by springs or streams, promotes travertine formation.
The color of the travertine depends on the oxides it has incorporated (which happens quite easily, being by nature a fairly porous stone).
The natural color varies from white milk to nut, through various shades from yellow to red. You often encounter fossil footprints of animals and plants.
At the Milan Central Station there is the Travertino di Rapolano placed in the Galleria del Testa dei binari and in the hall of the ticket offices.

The earliest clue to responding to Earhcache is to indicate in which corner of the First Floor Gallery (accessible without having to have a rail ticket) this photograph was taken.
Since the travertine is composed of many veins .. to confirm this particular you have to physically check which grain has been photographed in one of the four corners and indicate it in response A)

The first answer is then to indicate whether the photo was taken on the travertine column 1,2,3 or 4.

The Marble

The Marble is a metamorphic rock composed mainly of calcium carbonate (CaCO3).
Atrium Station The term marble comes from ancient Greek μάρμαρον (marmaron) or μάρμαρος (marmaros) with the meaning of "shining stone", in turn derived from the verb μαρμαίρω (marmàirō), which means "shine, shine. Both marbles are present in the Station but only one of them is used for the access area for trainsets. This Marble is in the red area of the map.

Granite
Granite is one of the most abundant rocks on the Earth's surface; it is an intrusive felsic igneous rock with grain that goes from coarse to medium and sometimes has megacrystals. Its name derives from the Latin granum (grain), with clear reference to its crystalline structure.
Granite is classified in the field of overcrowded rocks, that is, with quartz content between 20 and 60%. The other basic minerals present are feldspar (orthopedic, sanidino and microclino) and plagiarism (with more alibic compositions) and miche (biotites and some types of muscovite granite). If plagiarism is almost entirely albite, the granite takes the name of sodium granite, if rock is also present in rhombic rocks the rock is called charnockitic granite. Another variety of granite are leukogranites, in which mafic minerals are extremely reduced.
