Geocache Description:

Ammo can with swag. FTF gets $3 and STF gets $2. Good luck!

Grapevine Lake is a reservoir. It was impounded in 1952 by the US Army Corps of Engineers when they dammed Denton Creek, a tributary of Trinity River. The reservoir's primary purposes are flood control and to act as a municipal water reservoir, with a secondary function of providing recreation and open space areas.

The Grapevine Dam and Reservoir project, as it was originally known, was initiated in January 1948. Located on Denton Creek, a tributary of the Elm Fork of the Trinity river, the project spans both Tarrant and Denton Counties. In this area immediately north of the City of Grapevine, the Corps of Engineers obtained approximately 15,700 acres of land and placed easements on another 2,200 acres to be flooded by the new reservoir. The project was completed in June 1952, and impounding of water began July 3, 1952.

I placed this cache by parking at Rockledge Park and walking over the levee. There is NO PARKING on Fairway Drive. The coords may be a bit off as I placed it using an app on my phone, but it shouldn't be too hard to locate! I swear I am not trying to generate money for Rockledge Park, lol! This is just a place I used to frequent growing up and it was free to park back then, sorry. I have spent $20 so far myself scouting and placing, lol! Have fun!!
