Scarborough Beach: Sunset Paradise
The cache, a small camo-taped screw-capped plastic jar, is hidden near the entrance to a spacious milkwood grotto at the top of sand dunes overlooking this wonderful sandy beach - a perfect spot to observe a stunning sunset and the Atlantic waves . . . and one we regularly visit for a chilled-out sun-downer.
See GC242E8 Schusterskrall v3 for a short description of Scarborough, the beach and of the distinctive milkwood tree which forms extensive deeply shaded woody groves above and adjacent to the beach.
To reach the cache: park at the main beach parking area @ S 34 11.947 E 18 22.336, exit onto the beach via a short boardwalk, then make your way the 100m or so to the cache location.
***Update 14/11/20: the whole beach-side dune area is now a protected bird nesting zone, please access the cache using trails from Beach Road (just south of the car park entrance) heading up to and through the milkwood forest to the top of the dunes and cache area which is outside the protected zone***
Don't forget to visit the 3 other caches in the area, if you haven't done them already:
GC242E8 Schusterskrall v3, GC2AA9W SS Ikan Tanda and GC2D9QY SS Sophia (2 of Paddawan's fantastic Shipwreck Series)
If you do happen to be there at sunset - as recommended - take a photo, upload it and give it a score out of 10 . . . the photo for the cache page was taken as the cache was placed - as a typical example of what to expect - and rated a solid 6/10! See the gallery for a couple more sunset shots.
