Geocache Description:

in 2013, the City of Kingston partnered with an energy conservation company to install a 200-panel solar farm on the 2.78-acre site of Kingston’s former water treatment plant.

This venture is expected to yield some $1 million in energy savings for the city over the next 20 years.  The 200 kW solar farm will produce the equivalent of enough electricity to run nearly 100 homes. Electricity generated by the solar panels will flow into TVA’s power grid, and TVA will cut a check monthly to the city.

In July of 2016, a microburst with winds of 50 mph caused severe damage to the solar farm.  Several panels were strewn around and the frames holding up others were bent.  The panels and frames were soon replaced and the farm is generating power again.

An interesting feature on this old water treatment plant site, is the two large holding tanks on the back of the property.  You can see them from ground zero of the cache.

Please view the area from the paved driveway. There is no need to go near the solar panels or the power distribution panels. Cache is located just off the driveway closer to the road. The medium size tubular container has room for swag and trackables.
