Hamon Cove recreation area is a pleasant reserve with views across Lake Wivenhoe, which makes it a great place to take a rest from driving the Brisbane Valley Highway. It has a grassy recreation area, toilets, shelters, and you can launch your boat or kayak from the boat ramp.
The water in the lake provides drinking water for South East Queensland. After launching from Hamon Cove and paddling across into a stiff breeze I became quite thirsty, but rather than stop to drink from my water bottle which would stop my momentum, I dipped my hand into the cool clear water and took small sips as I went, hence the cache title.
This lovely area deserves a cache, so here it is. The cache is no longer a preform tube (that was destroyed in the fire). It is now a bison (thanks Brother Colin) with log only, you must BYO ink to sign the log.
