On the eastern slopes of Mt Parihaka, there is a great network of mountain bike tracks which can make for exciting times for a real fun guy.
Top of the list for the adventurous is The Gimp, which has the top rating of extreme, with very steep sections, large drop offs and unavoidable obstacles.
I certainly don’t think I would attempt this track, as I would probably just crash and burn, which is what could have happened to some relations nearby, judging by their appearance. Best left to a real fun guy I think.
Luckily those seeking this cache will not have to risk life and limb, as the cache is only a few metres off the forestry road. Although the ground is sloping and may be slippery, especially in wet weather, there is a big log across the track, which will stop you before you go too far.
There is good parking in the large carpark at the top of Memorial Drive. Cache is less than 5 mins walk ( or 30 seconds riding if you have a mountain bike..!! )
Cache is a small pill bottle, camo’d. Please replace securely and cover lightly, BYO pen.
