The headland of Clodgy Point lies just along the South West Coast Path from Porthmeaor Beach St Ives. Views are pretty magnificent on a sunny day and we're sure you'll enjoy your walk on less sunny weather. The path wends it's way towards the Headland of Clodgy Point. It is an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, managed by Natural England.
This is out on the headland and you'll be going downhill all the way! Local history sources say that Clodgy Point was the site of a Leper colony: Clodgy being Cornish for Leprosy. It's certainly a fairly long way from St Ives but this would have been a reason to site it here. There aren't any ruins of such a place that we've discovered anyway.
The view opens up to reveal the SWCP snaking it's way to your left and to your right. Gorse heathland downwards towards the rocks and the sea beyond. The views are spectacular.

View towards the Headland of Clodgy Point.
From here you'll be able to watch a variety of wildlife. See here for an up to date list of sightings but probably you will see Cormorants, gulls, heathland birds and possibly porpoises or dolphins. A great place to watch the wildlife. Bring a picnic blanket and enjoy the area.
Permission to place this cache has been given by Natural England and Cornwall Council.
