The heritage listed abutment at the southern end is a remnant of the Second Victoria Bridge. It was heritage listed as being representative of Queensland architecture of this time and there is a memorial attached to it remembering a tragic accident that happened at the end of WWI.
Make your way to the two way-points HM1 and VB1. Pause at the marble memorial and the information boards. Read Carefully! If you find that the Abutment is closed on your day of visit (seems to co-incide with fireworks events) the information can still be gathered without needing to view the memorial.
