George Wise was one of the early settlers of Hopkins, purchasing land in the early 1800s. The Wise family deeded the site of around 60 acres to Hopkins Public Schools in 1985 as long as the site remains undeveloped. The property is currently used for cross-country meets, scouting campouts, cross country skiing, hiking, family picnics, watching wildlife and more. Visitors can park in the lot at the Wise Farm to see vintage farm buildings and hike the nature trail. There are more geocaches located in the preserve and the adjacent historic cemetery. If you have time, stop and visit the L. M. Wise preserve.
