Groundhog Day 2017 Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

mrGreen317: For the first time ever, a Green-Hippo cache (or really any of the caches on mrGreen317's account) is being archived. I do not believe the location here is good for re-hiding this cache, and moving the cache closer to the park only gets within 528 feet of other existing caches. It is time for this particular Groundhog's Day to finally come to an end...

But in true Groundhog Day style (at least considering the movie related to solving this cache puzzle), Groundhog Day comes around again, so look for that puzzle in 2019. Maybe this puzzle won't be completely finished after all...

Hippo wanted to leave one final "Where's Hippo?"-style message at the close of this note (maybe his message could make sense of that last paragraph):

Thanks to all who came out to find this cache during it's almost 2-year run on the map.

(NOTE: July 6/29/2020: This message was updated to adjust the puzzle for an updated hide and a replaced cache container)

Geocache Description:

"Okay, campers, rise and shine, and don't forget your booties 'cause it's cold out there today. It's cold out there every day. What is this, Miami Beach? Not hardly. That's right, woodchuck-chuckers - it's GROUNDHOG DAY!" In honor of a classic, solve the puzzle and find the prize!

At the posted coordinates there is no cache. The road divides here. Sometimes the choices we make in life at critical decision points can determine whether we move forward or get stuck in the same place "over and over"... Just ask Phil...

With Quartet No. 1 In D playing, Phil Steals The Money, because I Got You Babe. So when Phil Steals The Money, it is Almost Like Being In Love, but with more Drunks and the Pennsylvania Polka.

It is A New Day, and You Like Boats But Not The Ocean. On this day, there are Clouds in the sky to be seen out by The Kidnap And The Quarry, but what amazing Clouds they are. So in the end, Phil's Piano Solo Medley is pretty good for the average Weatherman.

To solve this year's Groundhog's Day mystery cache, you do not need to rent, own, or download anything visual, although it is certainly a tradition each year in our household to do so. The key to solving does not even have anything to do with repetition. Hopefully you will find what is needed, but feel free to reach out for any hints if you wish.

Happy Groundhog's Day, woodchuck-chuckers!

A geo-checker is provided for you to verify your solution. This is helpful to ensure that you are not looking in the wrong places (especially with private homes in the area). Parking suggestions will also be provided once your solution is correct.

A big thank you to MattressGnome for the container for this cache. The container was received as a gift from him as part of Profbrad's 2016 Bison Exchange (GC6T9C1).

A congratulations on FTF goes to ted28285 and r.e.s.t.seekers. Way to "...get up and check that hog out there!"

This is a Green-Hippo cache
