Geocache Description:

The Gnome Ramble is a 4 km/2.5 mile circular walk near Plemstall, Cheshire. It is primarily across fields and along bridleways, but there is a short stretch on a road.

The route starts at St Peter’s Church, Plemstall. It follows the road to the right of the church passing over the railway at a level crossing and then enters a farm and stables. The path turns left here just after the stable block.

Having crossed the bridge over the River Gowy the path goes right and follows the banking of the river. After a couple of hundred metres the path leaves the river and cuts diagonally across the field to the start of a bridleway. This then weaves it’s way between field, and then around the edge of a field up to the main road near some Tea Rooms.

The next 500m is roadside, some of which does not have pavements. Having crossed over the railway and passed all the building on the left, the route heads down Wildmoor Lane passing Barrow Nurseries. From here St Peters at Plemstall is visible and the route crosses a couple of footbridges before going to the left of the church and joining the route used at the start of the walk.

The walk does go close to water (River Gowy), crosses the railway, uses a country road, can be muddy (so boots/wellingtons recommended) and you may encounter horses and other farm animals. Therefore appropriate care should be taken with geo-pets and Geo-children.

The route also passes three other caches for those that have not already found them. “Well Dressed (GCJMHK)” is roadside just before St Peters Church. Earthcache “Chester Pebble Bed (GC4WX89)” is half way around the walk with the option of a short detour for “ High Tea (GC6T3TT)”.
