Geocache Description:

ABRAHAM LINCOLN was born in Hardin County, Kentucky, on Feb. 12, 1809; this date in 2017 is on a Sunday. He was referred to as Great Emancipator, Rail Splitter and Honest Abe. As president during the Civil War, he is well known for his struggle to preserve the Union. QUOTES: 1858. "A house divided against itself cannot stand. I believe this government cannot endure, permanently, half slave and half free. I do not expect the Union to be dissolved . . . ." 1862. "What I do about slavery . . . I do because I believe it helps save this Union." 1862. "My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union . . . . " (Date ?) "If we do not make common cause to save the good old ship of the Union on this voyage, nobody will have a chance to pilot her on another voyage." A tweezers would be helpful! This geocache is located in Mission, Texas, on a "special" avenue between Stewart and Shary roads that are along US 83 Frontage Road South. This Frontage Road is a fast 55 MPH road, and, absolutely, do not park on it. Please look and see what the name of this "special" avenue is and read the text that follows. If you think there is a connection between them include in your log, "Yes, there is." A positive comment, without giving it away, would also be appreciated, but both are optional. **********************************************************************
