Meggsie's Mural

In 2016, Hornsby Council commissioned French artist, Hugues Sineux, to paint a mural in Dural Lane. The now completed mural, on the northern side, has transformed a blank and rather drab wall into a beautiful street scene that would have been found in Hornsby early in the 1900s. The council wanted to remind people of the days when Ginger Meggs, Australia's favourite boy, was growing up in Hornsby.
Ginger Meggs is also Australia’s longest-running and most widely syndicated comic strip. Beginning in 1921, Ginger Meggs was created and drawn by Jimmy Bancks who grew up in the area.
The character of Ginger Meggs is based on a boy called Charles Somerville who Mr Bancks went to school with. He became Hornsby Mayor on two separate occasions between 1936 and 1953.
A second mural, on the southern side of Dural Lane has now been completed by the same artist. (You will only need to count the number of bottles in the Pharmacy window on this side).

This is a two-stage multi. There are two free, 2 hour parking areas behind the shops, either side of Dural Lane. Cars still drive down this lane so please be careful especially with little ones. Look carefully and count accurately.
Enjoy!!
