Geocache Description:

Madison “Matt” Kilpatrick came to Waller County as a runaway slave from Alabama before the Civil War.  He married Betty Bradford, of Woodard Plantation, Hempstead, Texas. They had 8 children.  He was a talented blacksmith, specializing in improving farm equipment, became a landowner, Freedmen’s Leader, and served as first Treasure of Waller County 1873-76.

There is a driveway through the center of the cemetery.  If it has been raining be careful of low spots or remain on the street. The cache is a silver bison with a log so BYOP, please.  Visit and be respectful of Charley B Lawson.  This is in a neighborhood, so only during daylight hours.

There is a treat for the FTF.
