This cache and, in particular the final location, is a tribute to Franklin Delano Roosevelt, our four term 32nd President, Progressive icon, and instigator of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). Delano Pond is one of nine ponds in Harold Parker State Forest (HPSF) created by the CCC (in addition to the two natural ponds Berry and Bear), and its water level is controlled by one of the five concrete dams built by the CCC (at the southern end and east side of the pond).
