The Basilisk is a green serpent with venomous fangs and yellow eyes . Anyone looking into these yellow eyes will face instant death so be warned! Due to tree cover GPS may waver so as an extra hint go 30 meters or so up the path into the forest and look to the west side of the path.
An offshoot of my Harry Potter series nearby , this circular trail is based on 'Fantastic beasts ( and where to find them )' by JKRowling. The trail is approximately 8k long from the car park and is on mostly very good paths . Although suitable for buggies , bikes and horses , it is steep in parts and finding some of the caches will require some off-road scrambling . Wear suitable footwear as it can be wet in places .
