A river beach and children's playground equipment are additional park features.
The Corps of Volunteers for Northwest Discovery (Lewis & Clark Expedition) passed through the Tri-Cities area, first on October 16-18, 1805 and again on their return trip, April 26-27, 1806.
The state run visitor center features the story of Sacajawea, the journeys of Lewis & Clark, and native American history. Local artifacts on display include arrowheads, fishing weights, baskets, etc....
The center is volunteer staffed, for hours of operation, contact park manager (509) 545-2361.
The kids helped me stock this cache with toys they have outgrown. It should be a good one to bring your young ones to visit. Try to trade for things kids would like to find.
If you park by the boat docks (N46° 12.120' W119° 2.297') and walk the trail it is very easy to get to the right spot. You will not walk a strait line - so follow the trail even though you will be making a zig zag path to get to it. When you find 3 large concrete blocks you are within 10 feet of the cache, which is a camoflaged ice-cream container.
No need to go trail blazing. No need to climb rickety stairs. No need to go on railroad or private property or violate "No Trespassing" signs.
It is a 3/4 mile hike in to the cache because of the zig-zaging - so be prepared.
$5 Parking Fee or an annual pass now required at all State Parks.
