Since my son was born in February 2016, one of our favourite walks has become the 'Racecourse Loop', a continuous path that goes all the way around Worcester Racecourse and takes in the River Severn on one side.
Worcester is one of the oldest racecourses in the country and racing has taken place here since at least 1718. The course was for flat racing up to 1966. It has been for national hunt ever since. At nearly 100 acres, locals know it as 'Pitchcroft' and it is also the site where Royalist soldiers once trained during the English Civil War. With the Severn so close the course is prone to flooding so we will have to see how long this cache lasts!
