Geocache Description:

Niizaka indicates new (=nii) and slope (=zaka). The “new slope” is located approximately 2 km south of cache, which connects riverside of Hirose at the bottom and old Sendai city (Hirose-machi) at the top. Then, the name was taken over as the name of this street, which runs further to north from the slope (interrupted by the campus of Tohoku University Medical Campus), and the area where cache was hidden. Niizaka-machi is one of the downtowns of old Sendai city, where historical shrine stands from 1600s. Along this street, you may see numbers of the old shrines.

新坂とは、GZから南に2kmにある広瀬川の河川敷と旧市内の広瀬町をつなぐ坂を指しています。
現在では、その坂から北に延びるこの道路（東北大学医学部キャンパスで一部が途絶えています）、およびcacheが隠された地域の名前として残っています。
この通りおよび周辺には、1600年代に建立された神社が立ち並びます。
