Lou's Lookout is an amazing walk either by torchlight or sunlight. By sunlight you will see the amazing Waikaremoana untouched bush and hopefully many native birds and by torchlight you will see glowworms,weta and hopefully stars. Follow the track up to Lou's Lookout. It is important you stay to the track as there are drop offs on certain parts of the track.
The walk up will take you between 20-30 minutes up. PLEASE KEEP TO THE TRACK! When you reach the overhanging rock (cave) turn off your torch to enjoy the glowworm experience. If you don't see any glowworms at the first over hanging rock continue up the track to the next overhanging rock and they will almost certainly be there. At the top you will find a lookout where you can see for miles- when it is clear. Depending on the view you would like will help you to decide when to go up the track. We recommend both the torchlight and sunlight experience. Please park at the parking co-ordinates and be careful on the road as cars drive quickly along here.
