Located close to the site of this cache is the remains of the Kedron Shire Cattle Dip. The dip was built and opened in 1908 and was used to treat cattle entering the shire for the cattle tick.
It is believed that the dip operated until at least the 1950's. Cattle were taken from nearby holding paddocks across to the dip, plunged and then moved back across Gympie road to Early's Paddock which was located at the current site of Chermside Shopping Centre.
All that remains at the site these days are some posts (and fixtures) and a couple of concrete structures.
