Geocache Description:

The Tenth Annual Sussex CITO Event Seven Sisters Country Park
(This event includes a special bonus code for the South Downs GeoTour.)

This year the CITO at one of the most stunningly scenic areas in the country,Seven Sisters Country Park, will be done in conjuction with and under the control of Friends of The Cuckmere (FotC (visit link)

The date also co-incides with Internatiional Cache In Trash Out weekend, so come along and be one of the thousands worldwide who will be helping to make the world a cleaner and tidier place for all to enjoy.
Those attending will also get a CITO souvenir on their profile.

Itinerary:-
09:30 Meet at the SSCP car park (N 50° 46.482 E 000° 09.147) parking will be free for participants for the day, Just tell them you are with the CITO Event.

09:45 A short briefing by FotC on the 'Health and Safety' aspects of the event.

10:00 We will be split into groups of about 10 people and each group will be allocated an area to "litter pick".

12.30 Finish our good work, admire what we have achieved and we will return to the car park to make your way to the barn behind the visitors centre where ther will be a selection of tea, coffee soft drinks and a few cackes.
You could also enjoy your picnic here if you have brought one.

Important things :-
I do need to have some idea of numbers , so when posting your 'intention to attend' please indicate how many people are in your party.
Could you please log your intentions by 16 April 2017 to enable final arrangement to be made. Thanks.
(Dogs and Children are welcome but they will need to be kept under control)

What do you need to bring?
Stout walking or Wellington boots, strong gardening gloves and normal walking in the countryside clothing, drinks etc.
Some "litter pickers" will be available but if you have your own please bring with you.

General Information :-
Rubbish containers and transportation of filled bags will be done by the attending rangers
I suggest you keep this cache page on your "watchlist" so I will be able to keep you all informed quickly of any other information if necessary.

General Advice:
Do not work alone.
Always wear gloves and use litter pickers.
Do not lift anything heavy without help.
Use the right tool for the job.
Keep the work area tidy and safe.
If you do not like the look of it, do not touch it!

Health and Safety Hazard – Person/s at risk – Risk level – Action required by individuals or trust. •
Cuts to fingers from handling broken glass or sharp metal – Volunteers – Low – Wear gloves at all times.
Ensure a first aid kit is on site at all times. • Slipping on banking or slopes, particularly in wet weather –
Volunteers – Low – Ensure no volunteers work alone, do not climb up steep banks. •
Lifting injuries, backs – Volunteers – Medium – Work as a team when faced with heavy objects. •
Tripping over tools or cleared rubbish - Volunteers and; the public – Low –
Ensure all volunteers know how to use and store tools safely.
Designate a tool store area away from the walkway.
Rubbish cleared from the river should be put in a safe place where it does not block the walkway or access for other volunteers. •
Infection from needle – Volunteers – Low –
Instruct all volunteers not to touch a needle if they find one. Inform one of FotC who will arrange collection and disposal of the item(s).

This event includes a special bonus code for the South Downs GeoTour. One of the South Downs National Park rangers will be joining the event to support the clean-up efforts, talk about the hidden gems of the area, and also explain about the GeoTour. You’ll be able to pick up your GeoTour Passport and get started straight away with a bonus stamp to say thank you for all of your efforts in conserving the area.
