Taipei Sugar Factory was the oldest sugar factory built in Japanese clonized period in 1911. The height of the factory chimney (approx. 40.5 m) used to be the highest building in Taipei city. There was also a train station nearby to transport the sugar canes from southern Taiwan. In 1912, the factory could grind 700 tons sugar canes per day. Now, the factories was no longer working and the railway also changed. Only 3 warehouses and a train platform were left.
In 2003, Taipei city government assigned this place as the 106th historical site in Taipei, and reorganized the warehouses as museums and exhibition rooms. After renamed as "Sugar Factory Cultural Park", this place has become a recreation area for those "Old Taipei People" telling the history of Taipei.
