Phakalane is an affluent suburb located just to the north of Gaborone. Favoured by diplomats, expats, and the well-heeled, the suburb has some large homes and lush gardens which is in sharp contrast to much of the rest of Gaborone. The area also encompasses a golf course, hotel, and conference facilities. There is a pathed pathway that will take you around the area and makes for a pleasant afternoon or early morning stroll. Afternoon strolls are often rewarded with stunning bushveld sunsets.
At the boom gate, “Hotel” will be your best passphrase. Proceed and park in the parking area outside of the hotel/conference centre. From here you have the option to take a leisurely stroll (I know most of you won’t) in an anticlockwise direction along the path from Trail head 01. The circular route is about 4.5km. Alternatively, you can head in a clockwise direction from Trail head 02 and the cache is located just off the path about 300m from the parking area. Just follow the path around until you are about 10m from the cache and then leave the path. Do not try and take a shortcut, you will attract unnecessary attention.
DO NOT park at the fire assembly point that is closer to the cache site.
The section of the path where the cache is located affords some protection from muggles, but you will often find dog walkers, runners, cyclists etc. sneaking up on you, so be aware of your surroundings before attempting the cache.
Stealth is required to retrieve the cache. BYOP
