Geocache Description:

2017 Texas Challenge Planning Event #3 for NTX

Come join other North Texas Geocachers from 1:00 pm-2:00 pm in Rockwall at the SH 66 Boat Ramp Park on Sunday, March 5, 2017 where we’ll be talking about the 15th Annual 2017 Texas Challenge (GC6EBKA) Mega event to be held in Tyler, Texas on March 18, 2017.

Note that this planning event is being held 5 days AFTER the deadline to register to compete.

This event could be your chance to log 5 types in one day! It will be a good start to finding 8 types in one day with some driving!

During this planning meeting, we’ll talk about how the competition works and strategies that will help the NTX team win the coveted Golden Ammo Can for an unprecedented 5th year in a row! This information will also be covered at Event #2 GC709B2 being held 2/23/17 in North Dallas.

This meeting is open to all and we’d like to meet local Geocachers who want to learn more about the Texas Challenge as well as Geocachers who have competed in the past.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  The Texas Challenge is hosted by the Texas Geocaching Association (TXGA). There is no registration fee to attend or compete in the Texas Challenge, but everyone who might want to compete must register by February 28, 2017. Even if you’re not sure whether you or not you will compete, please register by the deadline.

For this planning event, bring the family and meet up with area Geocachers. Come even if you don’t plan on attending the Texas Challenge in Tyler. Stop by and see us even if you can only stay a few minutes.

After the meeting concludes, we will walk the bridge where Guido71 has hidden multi’s, mysteries, letterbox and traditionals. We’ll set up shuttle vehicles that can bring you back to the event parking after you’ve found the letterbox GC3PR1B on the west end of the bridge so you won’t have to walk the two miles back - unless you want to!

Bring your kayak and you can do some area terrain 5’s like GC3RDBR. There’s also a couple of cemetery caches less than a mile away and there are plenty of easy traditionals to be found.

Here’s how to get your 8 types in a day:

Event - Just come to this one!

Traditional - on the bridge

Multi - on the bridge

Mystery - on the bridge

Letterbox - on the bridge

Virtual – 3 in Rockwall

Wherigo GC1JXKQ north of White Rock Lake
