This was originally the Mission Church to St John the Baptist, Peterborough Parish Church. It was built in 1901 to cater for the spiritual needs of that part of St John's Parish that lay to the west of the railway and where rapid housing development meant that there was a need for a church.
The Vicar at the time the church was opened was Revd Lloyd Timothy Jones M.A. This building is now designated as St Luke's Church, Mayor's Walk, West Town, Peterborough.
