A day at the races #2 Traditional Cache
OZ-LV: This cache was totally destroyed by muggles. I am not replacing it.
Thank you to everyone who found it for your kind comments.
This now leaves that area free for a new cache.

A slightly larger one near the racecourse
Werribee Racecourse has been located on this site since 1861 when first gazetted. Today the racecourse is a modern (but aged) facility with large grandstand and other buildings dating from the 1950s. Some of the trees may be earlier. The first recorded races were held here on 4 May 1878. In 1910, after the depression of the 1890s, when the course was in disrepair, the Government declared that the reservation would be revoked unless racing commenced and a new Racing Club was formed. If these terms were not complied with, part of the land would become a showground and the rest opened for settlement. Please don't screw the lid on too tight
