Geocache Description:

This area is often overlooked. I love walking the geohound up here the views are very attractive.

Mull Hill is a very historic place and very attractive.

Mull Hill Stone Circle is a unique archaeological monument. It consists of 12 burial chambers placed in a ring, with 6 entrance passages leading into each pair of chambers. Sherds of ornate pottery, charred bones, flint tools and white quartz pebbles have been found in burial chambers. This archaeological monument was built around 3500 BC.

In more recent years (during World War 2) it was used as a station for a chain home low early warning radar. Chain Home Low (CHL) was the name of a British system operated by the RAF during WW2. The name refers to CHL's ability to detect aircraft flying at altitudes below the capabilities of the original Chain Low radars, where most CHL radars were co-located. CHL could reliably detect aircraft flying as low as 500 feet (150 m). The top of the hill is still covered in the ruins of the base and there are still 2 pillbox viewing bunkers you can get into to see the views they would of had in WW2.

Approximatly 5 meters from GZ there is still evidence of some sort in the form of a few concrete settings with a large round hole in the middle maybe once a fence or gateway.

There are also countless legends, stories, myths and ghost stories about Mull Hill and the surrounding area, ranging from people going missing, loosing time in their journey, strange noises, lights and sightings of ghosts ranging from single forms of women, men, children and soldiers up to whole crowds celebrating. Another story is of compasses going crazy and metal detectors not working, possibly from laylines and strange magnetic forces. I'm hoping this does not happen to you as magnetic forces are key to sucssesfully logging this cache.
